Thomas Fontaine is a cinematographer based in Montreal. He has been working in the industry for over ten years, primarily in documentary filmmaking, which has taken him to film in multiple countries and explore a range of cultures. Early in his career, after a trip to Haiti with Oxfam, his photos and videos were exhibited at the World Press Photo in Montreal.
Thomas later expanded his work to include music videos, collaborating with artists like Diplo and Mick Jenkins. His short film Cendres (2022) and his documentary Juste un toît (2024) were both selected by notable festivals such as REGARD, with Juste un toît also screening at NYC DOC.
In television, Thomas worked on the series Les Météorites, earning Best Cinematography at the NYC WebFest, as well as on seasons two and three of Moi j'habite nulle part, which led to a Gémeaux nomination.
Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and speaks French, English, and Spanish. He has a strong interest in climate issues and social justice, which often inform the projects he chooses to pursue. He continues to develop a wide range of work across film, television, and music, with a focus on impactful visual storytelling.
